Autumn Vibes

Sep 27, 2016

As the Summer sun fades and bursts of vibrant orange appear on the trees, the nights are drawing in and October will soon be here. Autumn is in the air and the season of oversized sweaters and getting cosy by the fire with hot chocolate and marshmallows is just around the corner. When it comes to decor this time of year has a certain type of beauty that casts your mind towards warm, winter colours and to embrace the forthcoming season we are looking at Autumn colours and carpet trends for interior inspiration.

So if you’re looking to re-decorate during the Autumn what colours might you be drawn to? You can look to nature and it’s abundance of vibrant hues to draw inspiration from for your home decor. Rich reds, dusky orange and copper mixed with moody tones create a warm, decadent and inviting feel. Flashes of brighter colours such as gold, coral, marmalade, turquoise and purple add interest and depth to a winter décor scheme.

Dark teal, plum, dusty pinks and aubergine all fall nicely into an Autumn / Winter colour palette, which gives an abundance of choice and colours to choose from.

The flooring industry has Autumn and Winter covered this year with an array of trend setting designs and unique colour combos. Alternative Flooring have brought out some iconic patterns this season in a range of plum, red and orange colour ways that will add warmth to any room, hall or stairway. In particular Strawberry Meadow Marigold by Quirky B is a brand new design and works beautifully against chalky grey walls. Tetra Vanburgh by Quirky B in deep red and turquoise is another perfect choice for a winter interior décor scheme.

Hartley & Tissier, Kelly Red Flatweave stripes is a delightful combination of red, mustard black and red, a design that resembles an old college scarf and has a rich quality feel that looks stunning on crisp white floorboards. Or if you are looking for a more contemporary, geometric pattern the Herringbone, Flatweave in Bright Orange offers bold colours that will enhance both contemporary and traditional interiors and is made from 100% pure new wool.

To create a rustic, country feel and look you might like Josephine by Hartley & Tissier in brown, which has a wonderful velvet textured feel and made of a mix of 80% wool and 20% nylon. This flooring product also has a durable, dependable feel and is perfect for country cottages.

Roger Oates offer a fabulous selection of products in rich reds and cranberry colours. In particular the Wilton, Bloomsbury Spice and Belgrave Plum offer a graphic and stylised design with a contrast double border, which feel soft to the touch and add real comfort and luxurious feel to the home.

We particularly like The New England Collection with it’s iconic design in Wesport Rust and Whitman Light Red. This quality product has a quality textured feel with a herringbone pattern and with it’s generously sized border and contrasting rib section looks beautiful as a stair or hall runner to create a real wow factor.

If you want to cover a large area with a riot of colourful stripes, Roger Oates also offers a Flatweave option, a fresh colour update of the classic Chartres design, named after the river Isis. The warm and vibrant tonal stripes in the colour way , aptly named Isis Spice add a beautiful splash of colour to large areas and can also be seamed together to make a stylish rug to create a focal point in any room.
